Context of the SAP S/4HANA cloud ERP migration project
This SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud project took place in the context of a business divestiture. As a subsidiary of a large banking and insurance group, the company we worked with needed to establish its own ERP in order to become independent in its market.
Its previous ERP system was SAP ECC. We guided the company towards a cloud ERP migration.

Why Did the Customer Choose the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP?
+ Time Saving
Time was a critical factor in this project. The company needed to implement a new ERP system quickly. SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP was the ideal solution with its out-of-the-box configuration based on SAP best practices and simplified customisation. The out-of-the-box nature of S/4HANA Public Cloud played a key role in the project’s six-month implementation.
+ Simplified Migration
The original ERP was SAP ECC, which meant the data structure was similar, and the migration of core data was much easier. According to Winston, our SAP Cloud expert: “It was an immense time-saver! Migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA On-Premise or Private Cloud is quite similar to migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. The main difference lies in the configurations, which are much more standardized in the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud version.”
+ Infrastructure Savings
Lastly, a significant point: the budget. By choosing SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, the company did not need to invest in network infrastructure. Since the Cloud version is hosted directly by SAP, this represented a considerable cost saving for the company.
Steps of the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP Migration Project
This SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP migration project followed the proven methodology that our firm, Sileron, has been using for over 20 years:
What Are the Benefits for Users?
Similar to the SAP Business ByDesign ERP, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud benefits from the Fiori interface, already available in the S/4HANA On-Premise version. However, in the Cloud version, Fiori comes preconfigured with standard roles, eliminating the need for customization.
Additionally, interfaces are fully customizable to ease tool adoption and usage.
A major product innovation is that data visualization is available by default, even without subscribing to SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud). Users can access dashboards, analytical reports, and customized reports, making information far more accessible within the ERP.

Next Steps for the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP Migration Project with Sileron
While the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud was successful, the collaboration between Sileron and the company doesn’t stop there.
A Two-Step Cloud ERP Migration Project
“This migration was an opportunity for the client to have their own solution and use it as a chance to add new features.”
— Juliet, SAP Cloud Consultant
The project was designed in two phases to ensure a quick implementation of the base version. The second phase will enhance the ERP with configurations and more specific new features.
And S/4HANA Public Cloud Third Party Application Maintenance (TPMA) by Sileron
In the S/4HANA Public Cloud ERP, version upgrades are handled automatically by SAP.
However, the company chose to entrust our Center of Service and Maintenance with TPMA to provide support and manage future solution enhancements.
Towards a Multi-Entity Deployment
After the first two countries (Senegal and Togo), other subsidiaries of the group will be implemented. S/4HANA Public Cloud makes it possible to add new entities after the initial rollout while remaining configurable to adapt to the group’s evolving needs.
